Session Chair Drilling Automation Workshop – San Antonio, Oct 2019
John de Wardt led two high value sessions as co-chair at the SPE Workshop titled “Drilling Systems Automation – a systems perspective”. One session addressed the question “Does Systems Engineering/Systems Architecture offer benefit to the development of drilling systems automation?” while the other addressed the question “Where do Humans Fit in the Successful Automation Loops?”.
The participants concluded that systems architecture is of high value and needs further industry development and that humans must be considered from the beginning of the design / implementation of automation loops.
